Take Copper as A Mirror

"Using the copper as a mirror, you can tidy up your clothes; Using history as a mirror, you can learn the rise and fall of a dynasty."

A series inspired by the old Chinese saying.

It originates from an ancient Chinese practice of using a copper mirror to examine one's own appearance. Similarly, the saying implies that by looking at the past experiences of others or history, one can gain insight and understanding into their own situation, and use that knowledge to make better decisions.

The proverb is often used to encourage individuals or organizations to learn from their mistakes or the mistakes of others. It also emphasizes the importance of self-reflection and self-awareness in personal development.

Besides using mirrors as a guide, I also focus on the aspect of excess self-reflection, which is a common problem to be found in the modern society. The excess self-reflection may become self-criticism, self doubt, and anxiety. They will lead to lack of actions, procrastination and stagnation. A distorted sense of self-awareness can also cause individuals to lose touch with reality, get stuck in endless and self-criticism.
